Connecting an app means signing in to it once so Connie can act for you there — read and send email, post in Slack, update HubSpot, and so on. Each signed-in identity is an account (for example one Gmail mailbox). An app can have several accounts. Where: left sidebar → Tools → click the app · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/tools Built-in tools and workspace tools don’t need a connection. See Tools for which is which.

Connect an app

1

Find the app

Left sidebar → Tools, then search for the app (for example “HubSpot”).
2

Click Connect

Click Connect on the card, or open the app and click Connect. If the app already has an account and you want another, open it and click + Add account.
3

A popup opens with the app’s own sign-in, or a form asking for an API key if that app uses keys. Finish it. Allow popups for connie.ai if nothing opens.
4

Name it (optional)

A Name your … connection dialog (for example “Name your HubSpot connection”) may appear with a Connection name field. Renaming is optional (“Account renamed”).
5

Done

The card changes to Connected. Every member of the workspace can now use the account unless you restrict it.

Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp

These open the provider’s sign-in in the whole browser tab instead of a popup, then bring you back to Tools.
  • Mailboxes show “Syncing …” with the account name, then ”… ready — sync complete” once your email has synced.
  • For WhatsApp you scan a QR code. If the account doesn’t appear straight away, wait a few seconds or refresh the page.
For inbox-specific setup (sync, sending limits, signatures), see Connect inbox accounts.

LinkedIn: choose a method

LinkedIn’s Connect button opens a menu with three methods:
  • Infinite Login (marked Your best choice) — “Credentials + 2FA — never get disconnected”. You enter your LinkedIn email, password, 2FA secret and a proxy country. Connie then reconnects automatically when LinkedIn signs you out.
  • Credentials — “Connect with email and password”.
  • Chrome extension — marked “Recommended for most users”.
The Chrome extension option doesn’t work yet. Choosing it only shows “Chrome extension connect is coming soon.” Use Infinite Login or Credentials.
To switch an existing LinkedIn account: Accounts tab → ⋮ → Enable Infinite Login (or Turn off Infinite Login). If the row shows Infinite Login: action needed, re-enter your LinkedIn credentials.

Notion

Notion only lets Connie see the pages you pick during sign-in. To add more pages later: open Notion on Tools → Accounts → ⋮ → Re-grant pages.

Manage your accounts

Open the app on Tools and click the Accounts tab. Each row shows the account name or email and its status:
  • Connected — working.
  • Disconnected (amber) — the sign-in expired or was revoked. Hover shows “Click to reconnect”.
Click ⋮ on a row for these options (only some apply to each app): For email accounts, Account settings also has Sync contacts to People — “People you email from this account are auto-added to your People list.” To act on several accounts at once, hover a row’s avatar to show a checkbox (or use Select all). The bar that appears offers limits, Manage access, signature changes and Remove.
You only see the ⋮ menu on accounts you connected yourself, unless you’re a workspace owner or admin.

Choose who can use an account

By default, every member of the workspace can use an account you connect — in Chat, workflows, the Inbox and Records.
1

Open the menu

Tools → the app → Accounts → ⋮ on the account → Manage access.
2

Pick who

  • Everyone — “All workspace members can use this account” (default)
  • Only you — “Only you can use this account”
  • Specific users — “Only selected users can use this account”. Use Add users to choose them.
3

Save

You’ll see “Access updated”.
A restricted account is invisible to everyone not on its list. For them, the app card shows Connect as if nothing were connected.

Reconnect an account

When an app’s card shows Reconnect needed, or an account shows Disconnected, its sign-in has expired — usually after a password change, a revoked permission or a timeout on the app’s side.
1

Open the account

Tools → the app → Accounts.
2

Reconnect

Click the Disconnected pill, or ⋮ → Reconnect, and sign in again. Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp take you to the provider’s sign-in page and back.
3

Re-run what failed

Retry the chat request or workflow run that needed the account.
Only the person who connected the account, or a workspace owner or admin, can reconnect it.
When a workflow or chat fails because an app isn’t connected, the error includes a link. It opens that app’s page on Tools so you can connect or reconnect in one click.

Disconnect or remove an account

Tools → the app → Accounts → ⋮ → Disconnect or Remove. Both take the account out of Connie:
  • Anything using it stops working until you reconnect.
  • Workflow steps and triggers that had picked this account lose that choice. After you reconnect, open those steps and select the account again.
Disconnect and Remove on a single account happen straight away, with no confirmation. Removing several with the bulk bar asks first: “Remove N accounts?”

Connect an app for an AI assistant

If you use Connie from another AI app (like Claude or ChatGPT, through MCP) and it needs an app you haven’t connected, it sends you a link.
  1. Open the link. Tools opens with a banner such as “Connect Gmail to use Send Email. Your assistant is waiting for it.”
  2. Connect the app as usual.
  3. A window such as “Gmail connected” appears with a message to copy (Copy message). Paste it back into your assistant so it checks the connection again.
Connecting does not run anything. Your assistant checks again and asks before doing the original action.

Good to know

  • Who can connect: any workspace member. If you’re trying Connie without an account, you’ll be asked to create one first.
  • Who can manage an account (rename, reconnect, disconnect, remove, manage access): the person who connected it, or a workspace owner or admin.
  • Who can change tool permissions: owners and admins only. See Tool permissions.
  • There’s no “default account” setting. When an app has several accounts, you pick which one to use in each workflow step.
  • AI apps you connected to Connie (Claude, Cursor…) also appear under My accounts with Only you. Manage them from Manage MCP access.

Troubleshooting

Why: the account’s Manage access is set to Only you or Specific users, and you’re not included. Fix: ask the person who connected it (or an admin) to open ⋮ → Manage access and choose Everyone or add you. Or connect your own account.
Why: the sign-in expired or was revoked (password change, permission removed on the app’s side). Fix: follow Reconnect an account. For Notion, if pages are missing, use Re-grant pages.
Why: the sign-in didn’t finish, the popup was closed or blocked, or the app returned an error. Fix: allow popups for connie.ai and try again. If the account is already listed, use Reconnect on it instead of adding a new one.
Why: the workspace has hit its limit on connected accounts. You may also see “Maximum connections reached. Please upgrade your plan.” Fix: remove accounts you no longer use, or email support@connie.ai.
Why: LinkedIn ended the session. Fix: switch the account to Infinite Login (⋮ → Enable Infinite Login). If it shows Infinite Login: action needed, re-enter your credentials.
Why: that option isn’t available yet (“Chrome extension connect is coming soon.”). Fix: use Infinite Login or Credentials.
Why: you were sent back to Connie before the account finished setting up. Fix: wait a few seconds and refresh Tools.
Why: the account was connected by someone else. Fix: ask them or a workspace admin. The server message is “You can only disconnect accounts you connected. Ask a workspace admin to remove accounts connected by others.”
Why: another account for the same app already uses that name. Fix: choose a different name.
Why: disconnecting or removing an account clears it from every workflow step and trigger that used it. Fix: reconnect the account, then open each affected step and select it again.
