A skill is a saved set of instructions — a playbook — that Connie follows when you ask for that task. For example, the Inbox triage skill tells Connie how to sort unread conversations into Reply now, Snooze and Archive, and the Draft a reply skill writes a reply as a draft in your voice without sending it. Instead of explaining the same process every time, you type / and the skill’s name, or just ask and Connie picks the right skill on its own. Skills can also bundle reference files (a pricing sheet, a tone guide, example emails) and list the tools they need. Where: left sidebar → Skills · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/skills

Built-in skills and My Skills

Built-in skills cover sales, marketing, research and admin tasks, such as Find leads, Enrich a record, Call brief, Daily brief, Chase follow-ups, Log an activity and New automation. Many only research and report — their descriptions say so (“never contacts anyone”, “never sends”).

Open Skills

Left sidebar → Skills.
2

Search or filter

Type in Search skills, or click a tab: All (with a count), My Skills, Built-in, or a category — Sales, Marketing, Communication, Analysis, Outreach, Research, CRM, Support, General.
3

Open a skill

Each card shows the skill’s name, description, author, icons for the tools it uses, and a download count. Click a card to open the skill.
A skill’s page shows its name, description and author, the tools it uses, and its files (SKILL.md, which holds the instructions, plus any extra files). On the right:
  • Test this skill — opens a new chat with the skill ready to run.
  • Copy prompt for — copies the skill as a prompt for another AI app (ChatGPT, Claude, Slack and more), and opens that app when it can.
At the top: Edit, Duplicate and Share for your workspace’s skills, or only Duplicate for built-in ones.

Run a skill in chat

1

Start a message with /

In Chat, type / at the start of an empty message. A list of matching skills appears — your workspace’s skills first, then built-in ones.
2

Pick a skill

Keep typing to narrow the list, then pick one. You can also type the whole command yourself — a skill named Email Triage, for example, runs with /email-triage.
3

Add your request

After the command, add any details — for example /email-triage only today's unread emails — and send.
Connie loads the skill’s full instructions and the tools it uses, then follows them. The chat home also shows a Skills strip with suggestions.

Let Connie pick a skill automatically

Each skill has a setting, When can Connie use it?:
  • Auto — “Command + auto-discovery when relevant”. Connie compares your request with the skill’s Description, and loads the skill on its own when it fits. You can still run it with its /command.
  • Command only — the skill runs only when you type its /command.
New skills start as Auto. For Auto to work well, write a specific description that says when to use the skill — see Create and share skills.

Other places to use skills

  • Workflows: in a workflow’s AI agent step, you can insert skills into the task prompt. See Build a workflow.
  • Tool pages: a tool’s Skills tab lists skills that use it. Click the save icon on a built-in skill to copy it into your workspace (“Saved to My Skills”). See Tools.
  • Other AI apps: Copy prompt for on a skill’s page, or Use in on a tool page, hands the skill to Claude, ChatGPT and others as a prompt.

Good to know

  • Skills never skip approvals. If a skill uses a tool that needs approval, Connie still asks. See Tool permissions.
  • Skills don’t have their own price. The chat and any tools the skill uses are charged in credits as usual.
  • Every member of the workspace can use, create, edit and delete the workspace’s skills. There’s no admin-only setting for skills.
  • To change a built-in skill, Duplicate it and edit the copy.

Troubleshooting

Why: the skill is set to Command only, or its description is too vague to match your request. Fix: open the skill → Edit → set When can Connie use it? to Auto, and write a description that says exactly when to use it. Or run it with its /command.
Why: built-in skills are read-only (System · read-only). Fix: click Duplicate, then edit your copy.
Why: the list only opens when / is the first character of an empty message, and shows a few matches at a time. Fix: clear the message box, type / and more of the skill’s name. Or type the full command, for example /email-triage your request. For your own skills, the command is shown in the Command field when you click Edit.
Why: skills don’t bypass tool permissions. Fix: approve the card, or ask an admin to change the tool’s permission.
