You can write your own skills — playbooks that tell Connie exactly how your team does a task. A skill is written in plain text (markdown) in a file called SKILL.md, and can include extra files Connie reads alongside it, like a tone guide or a price list. Where: left sidebar → Skills → Add skill · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/skills Any workspace member can create, edit, duplicate, share and delete the workspace’s skills.

Create a skill

1

Start a new skill

Left sidebar → Skills → Add skill (top right). The New Skill page opens. Back to Skills leaves without saving.
2

Name and describe it

Fill in Skill name and Description. The description is how Connie decides when your skill fits a request, so say when to use it — for example “Use when I ask to sort or clean up my inbox”. If you leave it empty, the first line of the instructions is used.
3

Write the instructions

In the SKILL.md editor, write what Connie should do, step by step, in plain language. Headings and lists help. For example:
4

Add extra files (optional)

Click + Add file to add another text file to the skill, and give it a path such as examples/good-replies.md. Each file needs a unique path that isn’t SKILL.md.
5

Create it

Click Create skill. Connie sets the command from the name (a skill named “Email Triage” gets /email-triage), sets it to Auto, and files it under General. You can change the command and mode with Edit.

Edit a skill

Open the skill → Edit, or click ⋮ on its card → Edit. You can change: Click Save (Saving…), or Cancel to discard changes.

Add context files

Context files give Connie extra material every time the skill runs — examples, templates, a product sheet, a screenshot.
  1. In Edit, under Context files, click Add file.
  2. Pick one or more files from your computer.
  3. Watch the token meter (“~X / 25,000 tokens”) — it shows how much of the skill’s file budget you’ve used. Remove a file with its delete button.
Accepted files: text (md, txt, csv, tsv, json, yaml, xml, html, and code such as js, ts, py, sql), Word and Excel (converted to text on upload), images (png, jpg, gif, webp), PDF, and video (mp4, webm, mov — attached for playback).

Choose the tools a skill uses

Under Tools this skill uses, search with “Search tools to bind…” and tick the tools the skill needs. They’re “Shown as Permissions on the skill, and pre-loaded when the command runs. Optional.” Connie can still use other tools when needed, and every tool keeps its permission — a skill never skips an approval.

Copy a built-in skill (Duplicate)

Built-in skills can’t be edited. To customise one, make your own copy:
  1. Open the skill and click Duplicate (or ⋮ → Duplicate on one of your own skills).
  2. Connie creates a copy named after the original with “(copy)” at the end, and a command ending in -copy, and opens it in edit mode (“Copied to … — editable here.”).
  3. Change what you need and click Save.
You can also save a built-in skill from a tool’s Skills tab with the save icon (“Saved to My Skills”). See Tools.

Share a skill

Everyone in your workspace can already use every workspace skill — sharing is for people outside the workspace, and it’s read-only.
1

Open Share

Open the skill → Share, or ⋮ on its card → Share. The window reads “Publish a read-only page anyone with the link can open”.
2

Turn on the link

Change external access from Invited people only to Anyone with the link. “People will be able to read SKILL.md and its permissions, but never run or edit the skill”.
3

Copy the link

Click Copy link and send it. You’ll see “Sharing updated”.
To stop sharing, switch back to Invited people only — the public link stops working straight away. Without a public link, Copy link copies the skill’s in-app address, which only members of your workspace can open.
You can’t limit a skill to certain members: “Skills belong to the workspace — everyone in it can already use this one, so access can’t be narrowed to selected members”. Built-in skills can’t be shared.

Delete a skill

  1. On the Skills page, click ⋮ on the skill’s card → Delete.
  2. Confirm in Delete skill (“Deleting will permanently erase all the data of …”).
Deleting is permanent and can’t be undone. Links to the skill stop working. Built-in skills can’t be deleted.

Limits

Good to know

  • Any workspace member can create, edit, share, duplicate and delete workspace skills — not just admins. Edits apply for everyone straight away.
  • New skills you create appear under My Skills and the General category.
  • A shared skill page shows the instructions and the tools it uses. Viewers can’t run or edit it.

Troubleshooting

Why: another skill in the workspace already uses that command. Fix: open Edit and choose a different Command.
Why: two extra files have the same path, or one is named SKILL.md. Fix: rename the file paths so each is different.
Why: the file type isn’t supported, it’s over the size limit, or the skill’s 25,000-token file budget is used up. Fix: use a supported format, trim or split the file, or remove files you don’t need. See Limits.
Why: the skill is Command only, or the description is too general. Fix: set When can Connie use it? to Auto and make the Description say exactly when to use it.
