Automations are things Connie does for you without you being there: enriching a lead list overnight, replying to inbound email, posting a daily summary to Slack. The Automations page lists all your workflows and scheduled tasks in one place. Where: left sidebar → Automations · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/automations (see Navigating Connie for workspace IDs)

Which kind of automation should I use?

Connie has three kinds of automation. They suit different jobs.
Not sure? Type what you want into the What do you want to build? box at the top of the Automations page and click Create. Connie opens a chat and builds a workflow or a scheduled task for you.

The Automations page

  • Header: Automations with a count, for example “Automations (12)”, a Templates button and a New button.
  • What do you want to build?: a prompt box with a Create button. It sends your text to Connie in a new chat. If you leave it empty, Connie starts with “Help me build an automation.”
  • Tabs: All, Workflows, Scheduled tasks.
  • Search box and a Filters button with All statuses, Active, Paused, Idle, Error and Clear filters. While a filter is on, the button reads “Filters · Active” (or whichever status you picked).
  • Columns: Name · Trigger · Runs · Status · Last run · Created by.
  • Load more workflows at the bottom loads the next page.
Filters and search are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.

What the columns mean

  • Trigger: what starts the automation. Examples: Manually, Schedule, Each item in Records (a workflow that runs every row of a list), Record Created, Email Received, Custom Webhook. None means no trigger has been chosen yet. A dash (—) means the details are still loading. For a scheduled task it shows the timing, such as “Every day at 09:00 · Europe/London”.
  • Runs: how many times a workflow has run. Always ”—” for scheduled tasks.
  • Last run: how long ago it last ran, or Never run.
  • Created by: the person who made it.
A folder row shows a summary of what’s inside it: the triggers used, the total runs, and either “N active” or Draft if nothing inside is live.

Statuses

“Idle” on the Automations page and “Draft” inside the workflow mean the same thing: the workflow is not live. The Paused filter only matches scheduled tasks. A paused workflow shows as Idle.

Create a workflow

1

Click New → New workflow

The Add workflow window opens: “Choose how this flow should be triggered”.
2

Pick how it starts

See Triggers for every option.
3

Build the steps

The workflow opens in the builder. Add your steps on the Build tab. See Build a workflow.
You can also start from a ready-made template: click Templates and choose Use a template. See Templates and sharing.

Organise your automations

Folders

  1. Click New → New folder, type a Folder name, and click Create.
  2. Move a workflow into it: open the row’s ⋯ menu → Move to folder, or drag the row onto the folder.
  3. To move something back to the top level, drag it onto the Automations breadcrumb, or choose Remove from (folder name) in the ⋯ menu.
Folders aren’t shown on the Scheduled tasks tab.

The row ⋯ menu (workflows)

  • Run once: start one run now.
  • Set live / Pause: switch the trigger on or off. See Test and run.
  • Star / Unstar.
  • Move to folder, or Remove from (folder name) when it’s in a folder.
  • Rename.
  • Duplicate: to this workspace, a folder, or another workspace. The copy is named “(Copy)” and starts in draft.
  • Share: choose who can view or edit. See Templates and sharing.
  • Delete.
Run once and Set live / Pause only appear if you can edit the workflow.

Work on several at once

Tick the boxes next to workflows (or the header checkbox to select all). A bar appears with Set live, Pause, Move, Delete and Clear. Scheduled tasks can’t be bulk-selected.

Good to know

  • Who can create: everyone in the workspace except guests. Guests can’t create, move or delete automations, and the New button is greyed out for them.
  • The Scheduled tasks tab shows only your own scheduled tasks.
  • Agents are not listed on this page. See Agents for how to find them.
  • Deleting a workflow stops any runs in progress and cannot be undone. There is no restore. If a Records list depends on the workflow, the delete window names it, and deleting the workflow deletes that list too.
  • Duplicates start in draft. A duplicated workflow doesn’t run until you set it live. Records aren’t copied, and a Custom Webhook trigger gets a new URL.
  • Credits: workflows spend credits per paid step, per row. See Test and run and Credits.

Troubleshooting

Why: You’re a guest in this workspace, or you’re inside a folder that has been deleted. Fix: Go back to Automations. If you’re a guest, ask a workspace admin to change your role. See Members and roles.
Why: The AI Agent card creates a workflow with a Schedule trigger and an AI agent step. Fix: That’s expected. Set up the agent step and the schedule in the builder. For a standalone agent, see Agents.
Why: Agents have their own page and aren’t listed in Automations. Fix: See Agents.
Why: The workflow has no trigger yet. Fix: Open it and click the trigger card at the top of the Build tab. See Triggers.
Why: The list didn’t load completely. Fix: Click Try again. If it keeps happening, contact support.
Why: A run is still in progress, or a run got stuck. A run still shown as running after 24 hours is treated as stuck and the spinner stops. Fix: Open the workflow and stop the run from the Running menu. See Test and run.
Why: You’re in a different workspace, or the workflow is shared with specific people only. Fix: Switch to the right workspace. On the access screen, click Request access. The owner gets an email.
Why: Deleting a workflow is permanent. Fix: It can’t be restored. Rebuild it, or start from a template. Before big changes, Duplicate a workflow to keep a copy.
