What you can connect

Connect Gmail, Outlook or WhatsApp

1

Open Add account

In the Inbox, click Accounts at the top of the list, then + Add account. In a new workspace with nothing connected yet, you can click Connect your accounts in the middle of the screen instead.
2

Pick the platform

In Select the account that you want to link, choose Gmail, Outlook or WhatsApp. Connie lists what it will be able to do: import and sync messages and media, access your contacts, preview and respond to messages in real time, keep contacts up to date, and manage your conversations in Connie.
3

Gmail and Outlook only: decide on contact sync

Sync contacts to People is on by default. While it’s on, people you email from this account are added to your People list in Records automatically. Turn it off if you don’t want that.
4

Click Link Account and sign in

You’ll see “Redirecting to authenticate…”. Finish signing in on the page that opens. For WhatsApp, follow the instructions there using the WhatsApp app on your phone.
5

Back in Connie

You’ll see “Your account has been linked Successfully!”. Click View Messages. A card in the bottom-right corner shows the sync progress.
The new account is selected in the Accounts picker automatically, so its conversations show up as soon as they sync.

Connect LinkedIn

Clicking Link Account for LinkedIn offers three methods:
The Chrome extension option is marked “Recommended for most users”, but it isn’t available yet. Use Credentials or Infinite Login.

Set up Infinite Login

Infinite Login needs LinkedIn two-step verification turned on with an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy or 1Password). SMS codes don’t work. Setup takes about two minutes.
1

Start Infinite Login

Choose Infinite Login. The window Activate Infinite Login in 2 minutes asks whether you already have 2FA. Click Yes, I have 2FA or No, I don’t have 2FA.
2

Get your 2FA secret key

The secret key (also called the setup key) is the long code LinkedIn showed next to the QR code when you set up your authenticator app.
  • Already have 2FA: open your authenticator app, find your LinkedIn account and look for a “Setup key” or “Secret key”. If your app won’t show it, reset two-step verification in LinkedIn to get a fresh key.
  • No 2FA yet: in LinkedIn’s two-step verification settings, choose the authenticator app option (not SMS). Copy the secret key shown next to the QR code. It’s shown only once.
3

Paste and confirm the key

Paste the key. Connie shows a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. If you already had 2FA, check that it matches your authenticator app. If you’re setting up 2FA now, enter the code in LinkedIn to finish turning it on.
4

Enter your LinkedIn login

Enter your LinkedIn email and password. Under the proxy setting, keep Use our proxy (choose a country, or leave Automatic (use current location)), or choose Use my own proxy and click Test proxy.
5

Activate

Click Activate Infinite Login. You’ll see “LinkedIn connected” when it’s done.
To add Infinite Login to a LinkedIn account you’ve already connected: left sidebar → Tools → LinkedIn → Accounts → ⋮ on the account → Enable Infinite Login. Use Turn off Infinite Login to stop it.

Watch the sync

After you connect an account, a card in the bottom-right corner of the Inbox shows progress:
  • “Syncing messages” / “Starting up…”, then “Syncing” plus the account name, with a count of conversations synced so far.
  • When it finishes: “messages synced” / “Inbox is successfully connected and updated”. The card closes by itself.
  • If it fails: “Sync failed for” plus the account name, with Try again.
Clicking ✕ (Stop syncing) only hides the card. The sync keeps going in the background and nothing you’ve imported is lost. WhatsApp history is limited to what your phone shares. For older messages, click “Click here to get older messages from your phone.” or check WhatsApp on your phone.

Reconnect a disconnected account

Accounts can disconnect when you change your password, sign out of LinkedIn, or revoke access. You’ll notice because:
  • the account is greyed out in the Accounts picker, with a tooltip like “This account’s connection has expired. Reconnect it to select it.”
  • the list says your account “is disconnected. Reconnect it to see your conversations.”
  • sending fails with “Account disconnected — reconnect to send messages”.
1

Click Reconnect

In the Inbox, open Accounts and click the refresh icon (Reconnect) next to the account. This works for Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and calendars.
2

Sign in again if asked

If the session can be restored, you’ll just see “Account reconnected”. Otherwise you’ll be sent to sign in again.
If the picker says “Reconnect it in Tools to select it”, go to left sidebar → Tools → open the app → Accounts and click the Disconnected pill (or ⋮ → Reconnect).
  • If you disconnect an account yourself, it disappears from the Inbox straight away.
  • If it disconnects on its own, it stays visible with a Reconnect button for 7 days.

Manage a connected account

Connected accounts are managed on the Tools page: left sidebar → Tools → open the app (for example Gmail) → Accounts. Click ⋮ on an account for:
  • Configure Limit: set daily sending limits (LinkedIn, Gmail and Outlook).
  • Signatures: manage the email signature for this mailbox.
  • Enable Infinite Login / Turn off Infinite Login (LinkedIn).
  • Reconnect (only when the account is broken).
  • Rename
  • Manage access: choose who in the workspace can use the account.
  • Disconnect / Remove: disconnects the account. Any workflow step that used it loses the account until you reconnect and pick it again.
Only workspace owners and admins, and the person who connected the account, see this menu.

Sync contacts to People

For Gmail and Outlook, open the app → Accounts and use the Sync contacts to People toggle under the account settings. When it’s on, “People you email from this account are auto-added to your People list.”

Choose who can use an account

⋮ → Manage access:
  • Everyone: “All workspace members can use this account” (the default).
  • Only you: “Only you can use this account”.
  • Specific users: “Only selected users can use this account”. Click Add users to pick them.
An account limited to some people is hidden from everyone else, in the Inbox and on the Tools page.

Good to know

  • Who can connect: any workspace member can connect their own accounts.
  • How many: there’s no limit on the number of Inbox accounts you can connect.
  • Credits: connecting accounts and syncing messages don’t use credits.
  • Same account twice: you can’t connect an account that’s already connected to this workspace (“This account is already connected to your workspace.”).
  • WhatsApp: you can’t send messages until the first sync finishes. This can take up to a minute, longer on iPhone.

Troubleshooting

Why: the LinkedIn Chrome extension option isn’t available yet. Fix: choose Credentials or Infinite Login instead.
Why: the same Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp account is already connected here. Fix: check Accounts in the Inbox and tick it. If it’s greyed out, reconnect it instead of adding it again.
Why: sign-in didn’t complete, for example the sign-in page was closed or the password was wrong. Fix: try again and finish every step on the sign-in page. If it keeps failing, contact support.
Why: LinkedIn regularly ends sessions. Fix: set up Infinite Login. If the account shows “Infinite Login: action needed”, re-enter your LinkedIn credentials from Tools → LinkedIn → Accounts.
Why: the account’s sign-in has expired (password change, sign-out, or access removed). Fix: reconnect the account, then click Try again on the sync card.
Why: WhatsApp can’t send until the first sync finishes. Fix: wait a minute (longer on iPhone) and send again.
Why: Connie sometimes returns from the sign-in page before the account has finished setting up. Fix: wait a few seconds and refresh the page.
Why: the account’s Manage access is set to Only you or Specific users, and you’re not included. Fix: ask the person who connected it, or an admin, to change Manage access to Everyone or add you.
Why: a connection limit applies to your workspace. Fix: contact support.
