Templates give you a ready-made workflow or agent to copy and adapt instead of building from scratch. Sharing controls who can see and change a workflow or agent, and lets you hand a copy to someone in another workspace. Where: left sidebar → Automations → Templates · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/automations. Agent templates are on the Agents page → Templates tab · https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/agents (see Agents for how to reach it).

Start a workflow from a template

1

Open the gallery

On Automations, click Templates. The Create an automation window opens on the Use a template tab, under Featured template. (If you have no automations yet, click Browse templates.)
2

Find a template

Scroll, or type in Search template…. Curated templates come first, followed by templates from your workspace.
3

Preview it

Click a card to open its preview, then click Use template.
4

Make it yours

Connie copies the template into a new workflow and opens it (“Flow created from template”). Check each step, choose your own connected accounts where a step asks for one, and fill in anything marked as missing. Then test it and set it live (see Test and run).
Curated workflow templates include, for example, Email Outreach Campaign, LinkedIn Outreach Campaign, Inbound Website Lead Enrichment & Routing, LinkedIn Lead Magnet Comment Responder, SDR Hiring Signal Campaign and Warm Lead Lookalike Email Campaign. The copy is independent: changing it never changes the template, and later changes to the template don’t reach your copy. The other tab, Blank project, has the What do you want to build? box and Quick options (Event, Schedule, Outreach campaign, AI Agent, Run every row of a list, Manual workflow) for starting from scratch. AI Agent here creates a workflow with a Run AI agent step, not a standalone Agent.

Start an agent from a template

1

Open the Agents templates

Go to https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/agents and click the Templates tab.
2

Pick a template

Click a card, for example Support triage agent or AI Appointment Setter. The Create new agent form opens, already filled in.
3

Review and create

Read the instructions and rules, connect the accounts the tools need, add triggers, then click Create agent. See Create an agent.

Share a workflow with teammates

1

Open sharing

Open the workflow, click Share in the top bar, then Manage access. (You can also choose Share in the row’s ⋯ menu on Automations.) The Share your workflow window opens.
2

Choose who has access

Pick Everyone in [workspace] or Selected members only, and give each a role: Can view or Can edit. Guests can only be given view access.
3

Save

Click Done (it reads Update permissions when you’ve changed something). Use Copy link to copy a link to the workflow.
Share with external people in the same window lets people outside your workspace see the workflow by link. Choose Invited people only or Anyone with the link, then under What can they see pick View all results (setup and results) or Template only (the configuration, without results). What the roles mean:
  • Can view: sees the workflow and its results, with a View only badge. Can’t change steps, run it, or set it live or pause it.
  • Can edit: can change, run, set live and pause it.
  • The person who created the workflow, and workspace owners and admins, always have full access. Only they can change sharing: anyone else gets “Only the flow owner can change sharing settings”.

Share an agent with teammates

On the agent’s page, click Share → Manage access. In Share your agent, choose everyone in the workspace or Selected members only, with Can view or Can edit. Changes save automatically.
  • Agents can only be shared inside your workspace. To give one to someone outside it, use Share as template (below).
  • By default, a new agent is shared with everyone in the workspace with Can edit.
  • Only the agent’s creator and workspace owners and admins can change its sharing.
  • Sharing an agent doesn’t share what it links to: people still need their own access to the records and documents it uses.

Publish your own template (Share as template)

Share as template creates a link to a reusable copy of your workflow, agent or Records list. Anyone with the link can preview it without signing in, then sign in to copy it into their own workspace.
1

Open Share as template

  • Workflow: open it, click Share, then Share as template.
  • Agent: open it, click Share, then Share as template.
2

Set the options

Enter a Template name. For an agent, Include rule contents decides whether its rules are shared with their text, or only their names with empty fields. For a Records list, Include records decides whether the rows are shared as well as the columns.
3

Create the link

Click Create template link, then the copy button next to the link (“Template link copied”). Send it to whoever needs it.
Managing the link later:
  • The template is a snapshot. Changes to your original don’t change it. To refresh it, open Share as template again and click Update shared template.
  • Click Disable link to stop the link working (“This link is disabled.”), and Enable link to turn it back on.

Use a template someone sent you

1

Open the link

The page shows the template’s name, its type (for example “workflow template” or “agent template”) and a preview. You don’t need to sign in to look.
2

Choose a workspace

Under Workspace, pick where the copy should go. If you aren’t signed in, click Sign in to use template first.
3

Click Use template

Connie makes your own copy. If some tools in the template aren’t available in your workspace, you see “Copied. These tools need replacing in your workspace: …”. Open the copy, replace those steps or tools, and connect your own accounts.

Duplicate a workflow or agent

Workflow: on Automations, open the row’s ⋯ menu and choose Duplicate. You can copy it into this workspace (Add to this workspace), into a folder or a new folder, into another workspace you belong to, or into a brand-new workspace (Create workspace and duplicate). You can also duplicate from the workflow’s title menu. You see “Workflow duplicated”. What a duplicated workflow gets:
  • It’s named “[name] (Copy)” and starts in Draft, with its triggers off. Set it live when you’re ready.
  • A Custom Webhook trigger gets a new URL. Update anything that sends to the old one.
  • Records in the workflow aren’t copied.
  • A copy in another workspace has its connected accounts and references to records and people cleared. Pick them again in each step.
Agent: use Duplicate in the agent’s menu. See Organise, duplicate and delete agents.

Request access to a workflow

If you open a workflow that hasn’t been shared with you, you see Access restricted. Click the request button to ask for access. The screen changes to Request sent: “You’ll get an email letting you know if your request was approved.” The workflow’s owner gets an email and an in-app notification.

Good to know

  • Guests can’t create, move or delete automations, and can only be given view access.
  • Templates are copies. Using a template never links your workflow or agent to the original.
  • Accounts and credentials belong to each workspace. After copying a template or duplicating into another workspace, connect your own accounts.
  • Deleting a workflow can’t be undone and also stops any runs in progress. Duplicate it first if you might want it back.

Troubleshooting

Why: the template uses tools that aren’t available in your workspace. Fix: open your copy and replace those steps or tools, connecting any apps they need in Tools.
Why: the copy couldn’t be created. Fix: try again. If it keeps failing, contact support@connie.ai with the template name.
Why: copies start in Draft with triggers off. Fix: open it, check its steps and accounts, then set it live.
Why: the copy has a new webhook URL. Fix: copy the new URL from the copy’s trigger and update the sender. See Webhooks.
Why: only the workflow’s creator or a workspace owner or admin can change who has access. Fix: ask one of them.
Why: you have Can view access. Fix: ask the workflow’s owner or an admin for Can edit.
Why: the access request didn’t go through. Fix: try again, or ask the owner directly.
Why: it’s under the Share button in the workflow’s top bar, not on the Automations list. Fix: open the workflow, click Share, then Share as template.
