# Members and roles

> Invite teammates to your Connie workspace, understand what owners, admins and members can do, remove people, work across several workspaces, and delete a workspace.

Everyone in a workspace shares its records, automations, connected tools and **credits** (the units Connie uses to pay for AI and data work). Every plan, including Free, has **unlimited members** — there's no per-seat charge.

**Where:** account chip at the bottom of the left sidebar → **Members** (or **Settings → Members**) · `https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/settings?tab=members`

## Roles

| **Owner** | Full control, including deleting the workspace. A workspace can have more than one owner. |
| **Admin** | Manages the workspace: members, billing and credits, workspace name and logo, workspace memory, Calls settings. Can't delete the workspace or change owners. |
| **Member** | Uses Connie day to day: chat, records, automations, tools. Can't see Billing or Logs, invite by email or change workspace settings. |

## Invite people

There are two ways in: a shareable **invite link**, or an **email invite**.

### Share the invite link

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Members">
    Go to **Settings → Members**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the link">
    In the **Invite link** card ("Share this link with teammates to invite them to the workspace."), click **Copy link**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it to your teammate">
    They open it and click **Join Workspace** (or **Create Account & Join** if they're signed out).
  </Step>
</Steps>

* The link never expires and always joins people as **Member**.
* There's no button to reset or turn off the link, so only share it with people you trust.
* The link does **not** get a brand-new Connie account past the [waitlist](/account/sign-up-and-sign-in). For someone who hasn't used Connie before, send an email invite instead.

### Invite by email

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the invite dialog">
    In **Settings → Members**, click **Invite members**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add email addresses">
    Type an email and press **Enter** or **Space** to add it. Add as many as you like.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    Click **Send invite** (or **Send N invites**). You'll see "Invitation sent to …" or "Invitations sent to N people".
  </Step>
</Steps>

What happens next:

* **The person already has a Connie account:** they're added to the workspace **immediately** as a Member. They still get an email.
* **The person is new to Connie:** they get an email, "You've been invited to join \[workspace] on Connie". The invite **expires after 7 days**, and they get a reminder about a day before it expires. Accepting it also approves their account, so they skip the waitlist.
* Everyone is invited as **Member**. To make someone an admin, change their role after they join.

### Manage pending invitations

When there are open invitations or join requests, tabs appear above the member list: **Members**, **Requests** and **Pending**. On **Pending**, each row shows "Invited by X · Expires in N days". Click **⋯** on a row:

* **Resend** — sends the email again and resets the expiry to 7 days.
* **Revoke** — cancels the invitation.

## Accept an invitation

Open the link in the invitation email. You'll see "You're invited to join as **Member**" with who invited you and when it expires. Click **Accept Invitation** (or **Create Account & Accept** if you don't have an account yet). The email address you sign in with must match the one that was invited.

## Approve requests to join

If someone opens a link to your workspace without being a member, they see "Access restricted" and can click **Request permission**. The workspace owner gets an email and an in-app notification.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Requests tab">
    Go to **Settings → Members** → **Requests** (the notification links straight there: `https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/settings?tab=members&requests=true`).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a role">
    Choose **Admin**, **Member** or **Guest** for the person.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve or decline">
    Click **Approve** ("Request approved — added as …") or **Decline** ("Request declined").
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Change someone's role

In **Settings → Members**, click **⋯** on the person's row → **Set as admin**.

<Note>
  **Set as admin** is the only role change in the app. You can't turn an admin back into a member, make someone a guest, or transfer ownership from Settings. To demote someone, remove them and invite them again (they'll rejoin as Member). For ownership changes, email [support@connie.ai](mailto:support@connie.ai).
</Note>

## Remove someone

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the person">
    In **Settings → Members**, click **⋯** on their row → **Remove user**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Click **Remove** in "Remove \[name] from this workspace?". This can't be undone.
  </Step>
</Steps>

They lose access to the workspace straight away, chats shared with them are unshared, and any AI apps they connected to this workspace through MCP lose access. Admins can't remove owners. Nobody can remove themselves.

## Work in more than one workspace

* **Switch:** click the account chip at the bottom of the left sidebar → **Switch workspace** → pick one. Connie keeps you on the same section (for example Records) in the new workspace.
* **Create:** **Switch workspace** → **+ Add new workspace**. A setup card asks for a name, picture and how you'll use Connie. There's no limit on how many workspaces you can create.
* Each workspace has its **own plan, credits, members and data**. Credits can't be moved between workspaces.

## Delete a workspace

Only owners can do this. Admins don't see the option.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open General settings">
    Go to **Settings → General** · `https://connie.ai/<workspace-id>/settings?tab=general`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the deletion">
    In the **Delete workspace** card, click **Delete workspace**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Type the workspace name exactly as shown, then click **Delete workspace**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

What happens:

* Everyone loses access **immediately**. All scheduled automations are paused and running ones are cancelled. The workspace's API keys stop working.
* A paid plan or trial is **cancelled immediately**. Nothing is refunded for the rest of the billing period.
* All data — workflows, objects and records, knowledge bases and files, connected accounts, invitations, settings — is **permanently deleted 7 days later**. The confirmation screen shows the exact date.

<Warning>
  Deleted by mistake? Email [support@connie.ai](mailto:support@connie.ai) **before the date shown** and we can restore the workspace. A restored workspace comes back on the **Free plan** — your old subscription isn't restored, so you'd choose a plan again.
</Warning>

## Good to know

* **No seat limits or seat charges.** Add as many people as you like on any plan.
* **Leaving a workspace isn't supported.** Ask an owner or admin to remove you.
* The **Members** list shows each person's **Role**, **Joined** date and **Last seen**.
* **Invite members** is visible to everyone, but only owners and admins can send invites.
* Removing someone from one workspace doesn't affect their other workspaces or their Connie account.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Invite members shows: User role 'member' is not authorized">
    **Why:** only owners and admins can send email invites. **Fix:** ask an admin to invite the person, or share the **Invite link** instead.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="There's no invite link, or 'Failed to generate invite link (403)'">
    **Why:** the link is created the first time an owner or admin opens **Settings → Members**. **Fix:** ask an owner or admin to open the Members page once.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="'An invitation has already been sent to this email'">
    **Why:** there's already a pending invite. **Fix:** open the **Pending** tab → **⋯** → **Resend**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="'User is already a member of this workspace'">
    **Why:** the person is already in the workspace. **Fix:** nothing to do — they can open it from **Switch workspace**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The person I invited joined instantly without accepting">
    **Why:** they already had a Connie account, so Connie adds them straight away. This is expected. Their invite email then says "You're already a member".
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="'This invitation was sent to a different email address'">
    **Why:** you're signed in with a different email from the one that was invited. **Fix:** click **Switch Account and Accept** and sign in with the invited email, or ask for a new invite to your current email.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="'This invitation has expired'">
    **Why:** email invites last 7 days. **Fix:** ask an owner or admin to **Resend** it from the **Pending** tab.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="'Access restricted' when I open a workspace link">
    **Why:** you're not a member of that workspace. **Fix:** click **Request permission**. The screen says you'll get an email, but today an approval shows as an "Access granted" notification in the bell and the workspace appears under **Switch workspace**. A declined request sends nothing, so if you hear nothing, ask the owner directly.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I can't find Leave workspace">
    **Why:** you can't remove yourself. **Fix:** ask an owner or admin to remove you.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I can't make an admin a member again, or transfer ownership">
    **Why:** the app only offers **Set as admin** and **Remove user**. **Fix:** remove the person and invite them again to make them a member. For ownership changes, email [support@connie.ai](mailto:support@connie.ai).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="After deleting my only workspace, Connie created 'My Workspace'">
    **Why:** you always need at least one workspace, so Connie creates a new, empty one when you have none. This is expected.
