# Billing & Credits Overview

> How Connie's credit system works, how plans are structured, and where to manage your subscription.

<Info>
  **The short version**

  * Every paid plan includes **unlimited seats** and **unlimited connected accounts** — you're never charged per user or integration.
  * Credits power every AI action, workflow run, and enrichment lookup.
  * Each cycle, Connie tops your balance up to the plan **cap** (never past it).
  * Credits **never expire** — even if you downgrade or pause.
  * Plan changes take effect **immediately**, billed pro-rata.
</Info>

## How credits are granted

Every billing cycle, Connie tops up your balance — but not by a flat amount. You receive **exactly enough credits to reach your plan's cap**, capped at your monthly allocation. No overflow, no waste.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Monthly plans">
    Each month the dispatcher checks your current balance and grants the minimum of:

    * Your monthly allocation
    * The gap between your current balance and the cap

    **Example — Starter I (2,500/month, cap 5,000):**

    | Balance before cycle | Credits received | Balance after |
    | - | - | - |
    | 0 | 2,500 | 2,500 |
    | 2,500 | 2,500 | 5,000 |
    | 4,999 | 1 | 5,000 |
    | 5,000 | 0 | 5,000 |

    The **Free plan** (cap 100) works the same way — if you have 60 credits, you receive 40. If you already have 100, you receive nothing that cycle.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Annual plans">
    Annual subscribers receive the **entire year's allocation upfront** — no monthly top-ups.

    **Example — Starter I annual:**

    * 12 × 2,500 = **30,000 credits** granted on day one
    * Rollover cap: 2 × annual grant = **60,000**

    You start at full allocation and spend through the year. The cap gives you room to accumulate if you don't use everything immediately.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

### Credits never expire or disappear

Changing plans never deletes credits. If you downgrade and your balance exceeds the new cap, it stays — you just won't receive new credits until you spend below the cap.

<Tip>
  A balance of 10,000 on the free plan shows as `10,000 / 100` in the UI. Those credits are yours indefinitely and you keep spending them at the same rate.
</Tip>

### Plan changes are instant

Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately. On upgrade, you start earning toward the new cap right away. On downgrade, you pay the new plan price but may receive fewer credits (or none) that cycle if your balance is already at or above the new cap.

## Plans

Connie has 8 plans across three tiers, plus a custom Enterprise option. All paid plans support annual billing at approximately **15% off** the monthly rate.

## What uses credits

Every tool call, AI completion, workflow node execution, and data enrichment action draws from your balance. Heavier operations cost more.

<Tip>
  Every tool shows its exact credit cost in the **Tool Explorer** before you wire it into a workflow — the cost displayed is what gets debited.
</Tip>

## Subscription states

The `state` field on your subscription reflects where you are in the lifecycle:

| State | What it means |
| - | - |
| `free` | On the free plan |
| `active` | Paid and in good standing |
| `past_due` | Payment failed — workspace still accessible but restricted until resolved |
| `paused` | Subscription paused — credits frozen, no new top-ups |
| `canceled` | Cancelled — reverted to free plan |

## Managing your subscription

<Warning>
  Plan changes and billing configuration require **admin or owner** role. Other workspace members can view balance and usage but cannot make changes.
</Warning>

### View your subscription

```http theme={null}
GET /api/workspaces/{workspaceId}/billing/subscription
```

Returns plan, billing interval, seat count, payment method status, and any pending plan changes.

### Upgrade or change plans

All plan changes go through **Stripe Checkout**. The API creates a session and returns a redirect URL:

```http theme={null}
POST /api/workspaces/{workspaceId}/billing/checkout
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "tier": "scale",
  "interval": "month"
}
```

See the [checkout endpoint reference](/api-reference/checkout/create-checkout) for the full list of accepted `tier` values.

### Cancel

<Warning>
  Cancellations are **immediate** — the workspace reverts to the free plan straight away. There is no end-of-period cancellation.
</Warning>

```http theme={null}
DELETE /api/workspaces/{workspaceId}/billing/subscription
```

## Invoices & payment methods

Invoices and payment methods are managed through the **Stripe Customer Portal**. Open it by hitting:

```http theme={null}
POST /api/workspaces/{workspaceId}/billing/portal
```

The response includes a redirect URL. From the portal you can:

* View full invoice history and download PDFs
* Update payment method
* Manage tax IDs and billing details
* Cancel the subscription

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do unused credits roll over?">
    Yes — up to your plan's rollover cap (2× the monthly grant). Past the cap, no new top-ups happen until you spend back below it. Existing credits are never deleted.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens if my payment fails?">
    Your subscription moves into `past_due` state. The workspace remains accessible but credit grants stop until payment is resolved. You'll get a billing event notification with a link to update your payment method.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I buy extra credits if I run out mid-cycle?">
    Top-up packs are on the roadmap — the infrastructure is in place but purchasing isn't open in the current version. Today, the workaround is to upgrade to the next plan tier mid-cycle; you'll receive credits up to the new cap immediately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do credits cost the same regardless of which AI model is used?">
    No — heavier models cost more credits per call. The Tool Explorer shows the exact rate for each tool and AI provider.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Will I be charged per seat as my team grows?">
    Never. All paid plans include **unlimited seats**. You only pay the plan price.
  </Accordion>
