# API reference

> The HTTP endpoints behind the Connie app, organised by area, and how to call them from Postman, a script or an agent.

This reference documents the endpoints the Connie web app itself calls, organised the same way as the app: **Chat**, **Records**, **Automations**, **Inbox**, **Tools**, **Notifications**, **Billing** and **Workspace**. Only endpoints behind features you can see and use in the app are listed.

**Base URL:** `https://connie.ai/api`

## Three things to know

1. **They sign in with your browser session, not an API key.** Workspace API keys (`sk_…`) only work with the [MCP server](/mcp/overview). Sending one here returns `401`. See [Authentication](/api-reference/authentication).
2. **Always say which workspace you mean.** Pass the workspace parameter each endpoint asks for (usually `workspaceId`). If you leave it out, many endpoints silently answer for the first workspace you joined, which looks like empty or wrong data with no error.
3. **These are the app's own endpoints.** They change when the app changes. For automations that must keep running unattended, use the [MCP server](/mcp/overview) with OAuth or an [API key](/developers/api-keys), or a [webhook trigger](/automations/workflows/webhooks).

## Not here

* **Starting a workflow from another system:** use a [Custom Webhook trigger](/automations/workflows/webhooks). Its URL needs no sign-in.
* **Letting an AI agent work in Connie:** use the [MCP server](/mcp/overview), which reaches more than 1,000 tools.
